CI `test` has failed intermittently since 2026-09-09 with a run of tests in one subprocess-heavy file all dying at exactly the per-test timeout. The cause is an open bun defect (oven-sh/bun#34069): a test worker loses a child's exit or pipe notification and every later spawnSync in that worker hangs. The wedge is process-local, so `bun run test` now re-runs the failed files once, serially, in a fresh bun process. A real failure still fails both passes.
