b267255c15 ALSA: usb-audio: Check endpoint numbers at parsing Scarlett2 mixer interfaces
commit df1d8abf36 upstream.

The Scarlett2 mixer quirk in USB-audio driver may hit a NULL
dereference when a malformed USB descriptor is passed, since it
assumes the presence of an endpoint in the parsed interface in
scarlett2_find_fc_interface(), as reported by fuzzer.

For avoiding the NULL dereference, just add the sanity check of
bNumEndpoints and skip the invalid interface.

394d89cf46 ALSA: usb-audio: Check max frame size for implicit feedback mode, too
[ Upstream commit 7cb2a5422f ]

When the packet sizes are taken from the capture stream in the
implicit feedback mode, the sizes might be larger than the upper
boundary defined by the descriptor. As already done for other
transfer modes, we have to cap the sizes accordingly at sending,
otherwise this would lead to an error in USB core at submission of
URBs.

314f1b8738 ALSA: usb-audio: Avoid implicit feedback mode on DIYINHK USB Audio 2.0
[ Upstream commit c5bf24c8ab ]

Although DIYINHK USB Audio 2.0 (ID 20b1:2009) shows the implicit
feedback source for the capture stream, this would cause several
problems for the playback. Namely, the device can get wMaxPackSize
1024 for 24/32 bit format with 6 channels, and when a high sample rate
like 352.8kHz or 384kHz is played, the packet size overflows the max
limit. Also, the device has another two playback altsets, and those
aren't properly handled with the implicit feedback.

Since the device has been working well even before introducing the
implicit feedback, we can assume that it works fine in the async mode.
This patch adds the explicit skip of the implicit fb detection to make
the playback running in the async mode.

d3904ca405 ALSA: usb-audio: Use correct version for UAC3 header validation
commit 54f9d645a5 upstream.

The entry of the validators table for UAC3 AC header descriptor is
defined with the wrong protocol version UAC_VERSION_2, while it should
have been UAC_VERSION_3. This results in the validator never matching
for actual UAC3 devices (protocol == UAC_VERSION_3), causing their
header descriptors to bypass validation entirely. A malicious USB
device presenting a truncated UAC3 header could exploit this to cause
out-of-bounds reads when the driver later accesses unvalidated
descriptor fields.

The bug was introduced in the same commit as the recently fixed UAC3
feature unit sub-type typo, and appears to be from the same copy-paste
error when the UAC3 section was created from the UAC2 section.

192cc667e7 ALSA: usb-audio: Cap the packet size pre-calculations
[ Upstream commit 7fe8dec3f6 ]

We calculate the possible packet sizes beforehand for adaptive and
synchronous endpoints, but we didn't take care of the max frame size
for those pre-calculated values. When a device or a bus limits the
packet size, a high sample rate or a high number of channels may lead
to the packet sizes that are larger than the given limit, which
results in an error from the USB core at submitting URBs.

As a simple workaround, just add the sanity checks of pre-calculated
packet sizes to have the upper boundary of ep->maxframesize.

5190fc2ba7 ALSA: usb-audio: Remove VALIDATE_RATES quirk for Focusrite devices
[ Upstream commit a8cc55bf81 ]

Remove QUIRK_FLAG_VALIDATE_RATES for Focusrite. With the previous
commit, focusrite_valid_sample_rate() produces correct rate tables
without USB probing.

QUIRK_FLAG_VALIDATE_RATES sends SET_CUR requests for each rate (~25ms
each) and leaves the device at 192kHz. This is a problem because that
rate: 1) disables the internal mixer, so outputs are silent until an
application opens the PCM and sets a lower rate, and 2) the Air and
Safe modes get disabled.

7cefc67b2c ALSA: scarlett2: Fix DSP filter control array handling
[ Upstream commit 1d24148336 ]

scarlett2_add_dsp_ctls() was incorrectly storing the precomp and PEQ
filter coefficient control pointers into the precomp_flt_switch_ctls
and peq_flt_switch_ctls arrays instead of the intended targets
precomp_flt_ctls and peq_flt_ctls. Pass NULL instead, as the filter
coefficient control pointers are not used, and remove the unused
precomp_flt_ctls and peq_flt_ctls arrays from struct scarlett2_data.

Additionally, scarlett2_update_filter_values() was reading
dsp_input_count * peq_flt_count values for
SCARLETT2_CONFIG_PEQ_FLT_SWITCH, but the peq_flt_switch array is
indexed only by dsp_input_count (one switch per DSP input, not per
filter). Fix the read count.

fc9e5af60d ALSA: usb-audio: Add sanity check for OOB writes at silencing
[ Upstream commit fba2105a15 ]

At silencing the playback URB packets in the implicit fb mode before
the actual playback, we blindly assume that the received packets fit
with the buffer size. But when the setup in the capture stream
differs from the playback stream (e.g. due to the USB core limitation
of max packet size), such an inconsistency may lead to OOB writes to
the buffer, resulting in a crash.

For addressing it, add a sanity check of the transfer buffer size at
prepare_silent_urb(), and stop the data copy if the received data
overflows. Also, report back the transfer error properly from there,
too.

Note that this doesn't fix the root cause of the playback error
itself, but this merely covers the kernel Oops.

27049f50be ALSA: scarlett2: Fix buffer overflow in config retrieval
commit 6f5c69f72e upstream.

The scarlett2_usb_get_config() function has a logic error in the
endianness conversion code that can cause buffer overflows when
count > 1.

The code checks `if (size == 2)` where `size` is the total buffer size in
bytes, then loops `count` times treating each element as u16 (2 bytes).
This causes the loop to access `count * 2` bytes when the buffer only
has `size` bytes allocated.

Fix by checking the element size (config_item->size) instead of the
total buffer size. This ensures the endianness conversion matches the
actual element type.

get_meter_levels_from_urb() parses the 64-byte meter packets sent by
the device and fills the per-channel arrays meter_level[],
comp_level[] and master_level[] in struct snd_us16x08_meter_store.

Currently the function derives the channel index directly from the
meter packet (MUB2(meter_urb, s) - 1) and uses it to index those
arrays without validating the range. If the packet contains a
negative or out-of-range channel number, the driver may write past
the end of these arrays.

Introduce a local channel variable and validate it before updating the
arrays. We reject negative indices, limit meter_level[] and
comp_level[] to SND_US16X08_MAX_CHANNELS, and guard master_level[]
updates with ARRAY_SIZE(master_level).

[ Upstream commit 21a9ab5b90 ]

The PureAudio APA DAC and Lotus DAC5 series are USB Audio
2.0 Class devices that support native Direct Stream Digital (DSD)
playback via specific vendor protocols.

Without these quirks, the devices may only function in standard
PCM mode, or fail to correctly report their DSD format capabilities
to the ALSA framework, preventing native DSD playback under Linux.

This commit adds new quirk entries for the mentioned DAC models
based on their respective Vendor/Product IDs (VID:PID), for example:
0x16d0:0x0ab1 (APA DAC), 0x16d0:0xeca1 (DAC5 series), etc.

The quirk ensures correct DSD format handling by setting the required
SNDRV_PCM_FMTBIT_DSD_U32_BE format bit and defining the DSD-specific
Audio Class 2.0 (AC2.0) endpoint configurations. This allows the ALSA
DSD API to correctly address the device for high-bitrate DSD streams,
bypassing the need for DoP (DSD over PCM).

Test on APA DAC and Lotus DAC5 SE under Arch Linux.

commit 05a1fc5efd upstream.

The PCM stream data in USB-audio driver is transferred over USB URB
packet buffers, and each packet size is determined dynamically. The
packet sizes are limited by some factors such as wMaxPacketSize USB

are determined only by the rate and the PPS, which may be bigger than
the size limit above. This results in a buffer overflow, as reported
by syzbot.

Basically when the limit is smaller than the calculated packet size,
it implies that something is wrong, most likely a weird USB
descriptor. So the best option would be just to return an error at
the parameter setup time before doing any further operations.

This patch introduces such a sanity check, and returns -EINVAL when
the packet size is greater than maxpacksize. The comparison with
ep->packsize[1] alone should suffice since it's always equal or
greater than ep->packsize[0].

cbdbfc756f ALSA: usb-audio: Fix NULL pointer dereference in snd_usb_mixer_controls_badd
[ Upstream commit 632108ec07 ]

In snd_usb_create_streams(), for UAC version 3 devices, the Interface
Association Descriptor (IAD) is retrieved via usb_ifnum_to_if(). If this
call fails, a fallback routine attempts to obtain the IAD from the next
interface and sets a BADD profile. However, snd_usb_mixer_controls_badd()
assumes that the IAD retrieved from usb_ifnum_to_if() is always valid,
without performing a NULL check. This can lead to a NULL pointer
dereference when usb_ifnum_to_if() fails to find the interface descriptor.

This patch adds a NULL pointer check after calling usb_ifnum_to_if() in
snd_usb_mixer_controls_badd() to prevent the dereference.

This issue was discovered by syzkaller, which triggered the bug by sending
a crafted USB device descriptor.

647d6b8d22 ALSA: usb-audio: fix race condition to UAF in snd_usbmidi_free
commit 9f2c0ac142 upstream.

The previous commit 0718a78f6a ("ALSA: usb-audio: Kill timer properly at
removal") patched a UAF issue caused by the error timer.

However, because the error timer kill added in this patch occurs after the
endpoint delete, a race condition to UAF still occurs, albeit rarely.

Additionally, since kill-cleanup for urb is also missing, freed memory can
be accessed in interrupt context related to urb, which can cause UAF.

Therefore, to prevent this, error timer and urb must be killed before
freeing the heap memory.

c611b9e551 ALSA: usb-audio: Kill timer properly at removal
commit 0718a78f6a upstream.

The USB-audio MIDI code initializes the timer, but in a rare case, the
driver might be freed without the disconnect call. This leaves the
timer in an active state while the assigned object is released via
snd_usbmidi_free(), which ends up with a kernel warning when the debug
configuration is enabled, as spotted by fuzzer.

For avoiding the problem, put timer_shutdown_sync() at
snd_usbmidi_free(), so that the timer can be killed properly.
While we're at it, replace the existing timer_delete_sync() at the
disconnect callback with timer_shutdown_sync(), too.
