0ce600d717 tools/power turbostat: Fix AMD package-energy reporting

commit 05a2f07db8 ("tools/power turbostat: read RAPL counters via
perf") that adds support to read RAPL counters via perf defines the
notion of a RAPL domain_id which is set to physical_core_id on
platforms which support per_core_rapl counters (Eg: AMD processors
Family 17h onwards) and is set to the physical_package_id on all the
other platforms.

However, the physical_core_id is only unique within a package and on
platforms with multiple packages more than one core can have the same
physical_core_id and thus the same domain_id. (For eg, the first cores
of each package have the physical_core_id = 0). This results in all
these cores with the same physical_core_id using the same entry in the
rapl_counter_info_perdomain[]. Since rapl_perf_init() skips the
perf-initialization for cores whose domain_ids have already been
visited, cores that have the same physical_core_id always read the
perf file corresponding to the physical_core_id of the first package
and thus the package-energy is incorrectly reported to be the same
value for different packages.

Note: This issue only arises when RAPL counters are read via perf and
not when they are read via MSRs since in the latter case the MSRs are
read separately on each core.

Fix this issue by associating each CPU with rapl_core_id which is
unique across all the packages in the system.

c4092cb063 tools/power turbostat: Clustered Uncore MHz counters should honor show/hide options

The clustered uncore frequency counters, UMHz*.*
should honor the --show and --hide options.

All non-specified counters should be implicityly hidden.
But when --show was used, UMHz*.* showed up anyway:

$ sudo turbostat -q -S --show Busy%
Busy%  UMHz0.0  UMHz1.0  UMHz2.0  UMHz3.0  UMHz4.0

Indeed, there was no string that can be used to explicitly
show or hide clustered uncore counters.

Even through they are dynamically probed and added,
group the clustered UMHz*.* counters with the legacy
built-in-counter "UncMHz" for show/hide.

turbostat --show Busy%
	does not show UMHz*.*.
turbostat --show UncMHz
	shows either UncMHz or UMHz*.*, if present
turbostat --hide UncMHz
	hides either UncMHz or UMHz*.*, if present

7de8290a66 tools/power turbostat: report CoreThr per measurement interval

The CoreThr column displays total thermal throttling events
since boot time.

Change it to report events during the measurement interval.

This is more useful for showing a user the current conditions.
Total events since boot time are still available to the user via
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/thermal_throttle/*

Document CoreThr on turbostat.8

4eb5f692e9 tools/power turbostat: Fix forked child affinity regression

In "one-shot" mode, turbostat
1. takes a counter snapshot
2. forks and waits for a child
3. takes the end counter snapshot and prints the result.

But turbostat counter snapshots currently use affinity to travel
around the system so that counter reads are "local", and this
affinity must be cleared between #1 and #2 above.

The offending commit removed that reset that allowed the child
to run on cpu_present_set.

Fix that issue, and improve upon the original by using
cpu_possible_set for the child.  This allows the child
to also run on CPUs that hotplug online during its runtime.

d562d14f1b tools/power turbostat: Fix PMT mmaped file size rounding

This (the old code) is just not how you round up to a page size.
Noticed on a recent Intel platform. Previous ones must have been
reporting sizes already aligned to a page and so the bug was missed when
testing.

cd89d5745a tools/power turbostat: Allow using cpu device in perf counters on hybrid platforms

Intel hybrid platforms expose different perf devices for P and E cores.
Instead of one, "/sys/bus/event_source/devices/cpu" device, there are
"/sys/bus/event_source/devices/{cpu_core,cpu_atom}".

This, however makes it more complicated for the user,
because most of the counters are available on both and had to be
handled manually.

This patch allows users to use "virtual" cpu device that is seemingly
translated to cpu_core and cpu_atom perf devices, depending on the type
of a CPU we are opening the counter for.

4a3b902a4a cpupower: fix TSC MHz calculation

Commit 'cpupower: Make TSC read per CPU for Mperf monitor' (c2adb1877b)
changes TSC counter reads per cpu, but left time diff global (from start
of all cpus to end of all cpus), thus diff(time) is too large for a
cpu's tsc counting, resulting in far less than acutal TSC_Mhz and thus
`cpupower monitor` showing far less than actual cpu realtime frequency.

/proc/cpuinfo shows frequency:

a109b531e5 tools/power turbostat: Fix trailing '\n' parsing

parse_cpu_string() parses the string input either from command line or
from /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset.cpus.effective to get a list of CPUs that
turbostat can run with.

The cpu string returned by /sys/fs/cgroup/cpuset.cpus.effective contains
a trailing '\n', but strtoul() fails to treat this as an error.

That says, for the code below
	val = ("\n", NULL, 10);
val returns 0, and errno is also not set.

As a result, CPU0 is erroneously considered as allowed CPU and this
causes failures when turbostat tries to run on CPU0.

 get_counters: Could not migrate to CPU 0
 ...
 turbostat: re-initialized with num_cpus 8, allowed_cpus 5
 get_counters: Could not migrate to CPU 0

Add a check to return immediately if '\n' or '\0' is detected.

313312c84b pm: cpupower: rename raw_pylibcpupower.i
The raw_pylibcpupower.i is removed unexpectedly after 'make mrproper'

We can reproduce the error by performing the following steps:
cd linux-next
make mrproper
cd tools/power/cpupower/bindings/python
make

We will get an error message:
make: *** No rule to make target 'raw_pylibcpupower.i', needed by 'raw_pylibcpupower_wrap.c'.  Stop.

The root cause:

The *.i files are already used for pre-processor output files and
the kernel removes all the *.i files by 'make mrproper'.

That explains why the raw_pylibcpupower.i is removed by 'make mrproper'.

To fix it, Follow John's suggestion to rename raw_pylibcpupower.i to
raw_pylibcpupower.swg.

There was a symbol listed in the powercap.h file that was not implemented.
Implement it with a stub return of 0.

Programs like SWIG require that functions that are defined in the
headers be implemented.

dd7c445beb pm-graph: Make git ignore sleepgraph.py artifacts
By default, sleepgraph.py creates suspend-{date}-{time} directories
to store artifacts, or suspend-{date}-{time}-xN if the --multi option
is used.

Ignore those directories by adding a .gitignore file.

19d076903b tools/power turbostat: Include umask=%x in perf counter's config
Some counters, like cpu/cache-misses/, expose and require umask=%x
parameter alongside event=%x in the sysfs perf counter's event file.
This change make sure we parse and use it when opening user added
counters.

640540beb8 tools/power turbostat: Add MTL's PMT DC6 builtin counter
Provide a definition for metadata that allows reading DC6 residency
counter via PMT and exposes it as a builtin counter.

Note that this residency counter is updated and read via
entirely different mechanisms vs the MSR-based residency counters.
On MTL processors, there are times when Die%c6 will report above 100%.

f0e4ed752f tools/power turbostat: Add early support for PMT counters
Allows users to read Intel PMT (Platform Monitoring Technology)
counters, providing interface similar to one used to add MSR and perf
counters. Because PMT is exposed as a raw MMIO range, without metadata,
user has to supply the necessary information to find and correctly
display the requested counter.

fd77d7fde0 tools/power/x86/intel-speed-select: Set TRL MSR in 100 MHz units
When SST-TF is disabled in auto mode, the performance is getting
limited.

This is caused by wrong programming of Turbo Ratio Limit (TRL) MSR.

This MSR always accepts the frequency ratio in 100 MHz unit. When the
TPMI is sending TRL in 1 MHz unit, change to 100 MHz, before updating
TRL MSR.

3a5bb5066f cpupower: fix lib default installation path
Invocation the tool built with the default settings fails:
$ cpupower
cpupower: error while loading shared libraries: libcpupower.so.1: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory

The issue is that Makefile puts the library to "/usr/lib64" dir for a 64
bit machine. This is wrong. According to the "File hierarchy standard
specification:

https://refspecs.linuxfoundation.org/FHS_3.0/fhs-3.0.pdf

"/usr/lib<qual>" dirs are intended for alternative-format libraries
(e.g., "/usr/lib32" for 32-bit libraries on a 64-bit machine (optional)).

The utility is built for the current machine and doesn't handle
'CROSS_COMPILE' and 'ARCH' env variables. It also doesn't change bit
depth. So the result is always the same - binary for x86_64
architecture. Therefore the library should be put in the '/usr/lib'
dir regardless of the build options.
This is the case for all the distros that comply with the
'File Hierarchy Standard 3.0" by Linux Foundation. Most of the distros
comply with it. For example, one can check this by examining the
"/usr/lb64" dir on debian-based distros and find that it contains only
"/usr/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2". And examine that "/usr/lib" contains
both 32 and 64 bit code:

Fix the issue by changing library destination dir to "/usr/lib".

is not intended to run standalone. The reason is that 'bench' subproject
depends on the 'libcpupower' library, see the 'compile-bench' target in
the main makefile.
Add a check that prevents standalone execution of the 'bench' makefile.

c5120a3356 tools/power turbostat: Fix unc freq columns not showing with '-q' or '-l'
Commit 78464d7681 ("tools/power turbostat: Add columns for clustered
uncore frequency") introduced 'probe_intel_uncore_frequency_cluster()'
in a way which prevents printing uncore frequency columns if either of
the '-q' or '-l' options are used. Systems which do not have multiple
uncore frequencies per package are unaffected by this regression.

Fix the function so that uncore frequency columns are shown when either
the '-l' or '-q' option is used by checking if 'quiet' is true after
adding counters for the uncore frequency columns.

ebb5b260af tools/power turbostat: option '-n' is ambiguous
In some cases specifying the '-n' command line argument will cause
turbostat to fail.  For instance 'turbostat -n 1' works fine; however,
'turbostat -n 1 -d' will fail.  This is the result of the first call
to getopt_long_only() where "MP" is specified as the optstring.  This can
be easily fixed by changing the optstring from "MP" to "MPn:" to remove
ambiguity between the arguments.

tools/power turbostat: option '-n' is ambiguous; possibilities: '-num_iterations' '-no-msr' '-no-perf'
