Matthieu Baerts (NGI0)andGreg Kroah-Hartman 2d53b863b4 selftests: mptcp: join: check RM_ADDR not sent over same subflow
[ Upstream commit 560edd99b5 ]

This validates the previous commit: RM_ADDR were sent over the first
found active subflow which could be the same as the one being removed.
It is more likely to loose this notification.

For this check, RM_ADDR are explicitly dropped when trying to send them
over the initial subflow, when removing the endpoint attached to it. If
it is dropped, the test will complain because some RM_ADDR have not been
received.

Note that only the RM_ADDR are dropped, to allow the linked subflow to
be quickly and cleanly closed. To only drop those RM_ADDR, a cBPF byte
code is used. If the IPTables commands fail, that's OK, the tests will
continue to pass, but not validate this part. This can be ignored:
another subtest fully depends on such command, and will be marked as
skipped.

The 'Fixes' tag here below is the same as the one from the previous
commit: this patch here is not fixing anything wrong in the selftests,
but it validates the previous fix for an issue introduced by this commit
ID.

Gang YanandGreg Kroah-Hartman 1ec68e2096 selftests: mptcp: add a check for 'add_addr_accepted'
[ Upstream commit 0eee0fdf9b ]

The previous patch fixed an issue with the 'add_addr_accepted' counter.
This was not spot by the test suite.

Check this counter and 'add_addr_signal' in MPTCP Join 'delete re-add
signal' test. This should help spotting similar regressions later on.
These counters are crucial for ensuring the MPTCP path manager correctly
handles the subflow creation via 'ADD_ADDR'.

[ Upstream commit 40804c4974 ]

run_kernel() appended KUnit flags directly to the caller-provided args
list. When exec_tests() calls run_kernel() repeatedly (e.g. with
--run_isolated), each call mutated the same list, causing later runs
to inherit stale filter_glob values and duplicate kunit.enable flags.

Fix this by copying args at the start of run_kernel(). Add a regression
test that calls run_kernel() twice with the same list and verifies the
original remains unchanged.

Matthieu Baerts (NGI0)andGreg Kroah-Hartman ec312cb9bd selftests: mptcp: join: check removing signal+subflow endp
commit 1777f349ff upstream.

This validates the previous commit: endpoints with both the signal and
subflow flags should always be marked as used even if it was not
possible to create new subflows due to the MPTCP PM limits.

For this test, an extra endpoint is created with both the signal and the
subflow flags, and limits are set not to create extra subflows. In this
case, an ADD_ADDR is sent, but no subflows are created. Still, the local
endpoint is marked as used, and no warning is fired when removing the
endpoint, after having sent a RM_ADDR.

The 'Fixes' tag here below is the same as the one from the previous

Paolo AbeniandGreg Kroah-Hartman 047de21321 selftests: mptcp: more stable simult_flows tests
commit 8c09412e58 upstream.

By default, the netem qdisc can keep up to 1000 packets under its belly
to deal with the configured rate and delay. The simult flows test-case
simulates very low speed links, to avoid problems due to slow CPUs and
the TCP stack tend to transmit at a slightly higher rate than the
(virtual) link constraints.

All the above causes a relatively large amount of packets being enqueued
in the netem qdiscs - the longer the transfer, the longer the queue -
producing increasingly high TCP RTT samples and consequently increasingly
larger receive buffer size due to DRS.

When the receive buffer size becomes considerably larger than the needed
size, the tests results can flake, i.e. because minimal inaccuracy in the
pacing rate can lead to a single subflow usage towards the end of the
connection for a considerable amount of data.

Address the issue explicitly setting netem limits suitable for the
configured link speeds and unflake all the affected tests.

Fix by reducing the burst size so that the test will pass with both new

Aristeu RozanskiandSasha Levin d389943443 selftests/memfd: use IPC semaphore instead of SIGSTOP/SIGCONT
[ Upstream commit b24335521d ]

selftests/memfd: use IPC semaphore instead of SIGSTOP/SIGCONT

In order to synchronize new processes to test inheritance of memfd_noexec
sysctl, memfd_test sets up the sysctl with a value before creating the new
process. The new process then sends itself a SIGSTOP in order to wait for
the parent to flip the sysctl value and send a SIGCONT signal.

This would work as intended if it wasn't the fact that the new process is
being created with CLONE_NEWPID, which creates a new PID namespace and the
new process has PID 1 in this namespace. There're restrictions on sending
signals to PID 1 and, although it's relaxed for other than root PID
namespace, it's biting us here. In this specific case the SIGSTOP sent by
the new process is ignored (no error to kill() is returned) and it never
stops its execution. This is usually not noticiable as the parent usually
manages to set the new sysctl value before the child has a chance to run
and the test succeeds. But if you run the test in a loop, it eventually
reproduces:

	while [ 1 ]; do ./memfd_test >log 2>&1 || break; done; cat log

So this patch replaces the SIGSTOP/SIGCONT synchronization with IPC
semaphore.

Zhiquan LiandGreg Kroah-Hartman a8adf1ceee KVM: selftests: Add -U_FORTIFY_SOURCE to avoid some unpredictable test failures
[ Upstream commit e396a74222 ]

Some distributions (such as Ubuntu) configure GCC so that
_FORTIFY_SOURCE is automatically enabled at -O1 or above. This results
in some fortified version of definitions of standard library functions
are included. While linker resolves the symbols, the fortified versions
might override the definitions in lib/string_override.c and reference to
those PLT entries in GLIBC. This is not a problem for the code in host,
but it is a disaster for the guest code. E.g., if build and run
x86/nested_emulation_test on Ubuntu 24.04 will encounter a L1 #PF due to
memset() reference to __memset_chk@plt.

The option -fno-builtin-memset is not helpful here, because those
fortified versions are not built-in but some definitions which are
included by header, they are for different intentions.

In order to eliminate the unpredictable behaviors may vary depending on
the linker and platform, add the "-U_FORTIFY_SOURCE" into CFLAGS to
prevent from introducing the fortified definitions.

Matthieu Baerts (NGI0)andGreg Kroah-Hartman 4bed436cde selftests: mptcp: join: fix local endp not being tracked
commit c5d5ecf21f upstream.

When running this mptcp_join.sh selftest on older kernel versions not
supporting local endpoints tracking, this test fails because 3 MP_JOIN
ACKs have been received, while only 2 were expected.

It is not clear why only 2 MP_JOIN ACKs were expected on old kernel
versions, while 3 MP_JOIN SYN and SYN+ACK were expected. When testing on
the v5.15.197 kernel, 3 MP_JOIN ACKs are seen, which is also what is
expected in the selftests included in this kernel version, see commit
f4480eaad4 ("selftests: mptcp: add missing join check").

Switch the expected MP_JOIN ACKs to 3. While at it, move this
chk_join_nr helper out of the special condition for older kernel
versions as it is now the same as with more recent ones. Also, invert
the condition to be more logical: what's expected on newer kernel
versions having such helper first.

commit 8467458dfa upstream.

This validates the previous commit: subflow closed events are re-sent

and each time a subflow is closed after that.

In this new test, the userspace PM is involved because that's how it was

terminated with a RESET, and that will cause the subflow disconnect.
Then, a new subflow is initiated, but also got rejected, which cause a

Amery HungandGreg Kroah-Hartman d08b4193cd bpf: Support specifying linear xdp packet data size for BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN
[ Upstream commit fe9544ed1a ]

To test bpf_xdp_pull_data(), an xdp packet containing fragments as well
as free linear data area after xdp->data_end needs to be created.
However, bpf_prog_test_run_xdp() always fills the linear area with
data_in before creating fragments, leaving no space to pull data. This
patch will allow users to specify the linear data size through
ctx->data_end.

Currently, ctx_in->data_end must match data_size_in and will not be the
final ctx->data_end seen by xdp programs. This is because ctx->data_end
is populated according to the xdp_buff passed to test_run. The linear
data area available in an xdp_buff, max_linear_sz, is alawys filled up
before copying data_in into fragments.

This patch will allow users to specify the size of data that goes into
the linear area. When ctx_in->data_end is different from data_size_in,
only ctx_in->data_end bytes of data will be put into the linear area when
creating the xdp_buff.

While ctx_in->data_end will be allowed to be different from data_size_in,
it cannot be larger than the data_size_in as there will be no data to
copy from user space. If it is larger than the maximum linear data area
size, the layout suggested by the user will not be honored. Data beyond
max_linear_sz bytes will still be copied into fragments.

Finally, since it is possible for a NIC to produce a xdp_buff with empty
linear data area, allow it when calling bpf_test_init() from
bpf_prog_test_run_xdp() so that we can test XDP kfuncs with such
xdp_buff. This is done by moving lower-bound check to callers as most of
them already do except bpf_prog_test_run_skb(). The change also fixes a
bug that allows passing an xdp_buff with data < ETH_HLEN. This can
happen when ctx is used and metadata is at least ETH_HLEN.

Yonghong SongandGreg Kroah-Hartman a60c827903 bpf: Fix an issue in bpf_prog_test_run_xdp when page size greater than 4K
[ Upstream commit 4fc012daf9 ]

The bpf selftest xdp_adjust_tail/xdp_adjust_frags_tail_grow failed on
arm64 with 64KB page:
   xdp_adjust_tail/xdp_adjust_frags_tail_grow:FAIL

In bpf_prog_test_run_xdp(), the xdp->frame_sz is set to 4K, but later on
when constructing frags, with 64K page size, the frag data_len could
be more than 4K. This will cause problems in bpf_xdp_frags_increase_tail().

To fix the failure, the xdp->frame_sz is set to be PAGE_SIZE so kernel
can test different page size properly. With the kernel change, the user
space and bpf prog needs adjustment. Currently, the MAX_SKB_FRAGS default
value is 17, so for 4K page, the maximum packet size will be less than 68K.
To test 64K page, a bigger maximum packet size than 68K is desired. So two
different functions are implemented for subtest xdp_adjust_frags_tail_grow.
Depending on different page size, different data input/output sizes are used
to adapt with different page size.

When the selftest 'tap.c' is compiled with '-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=3',

A buffer overflow is detected by the fortified glibc __strcpy_chk()
since the __builtin_object_size() of `RTA_DATA(rta)` is incorrectly
reported as 1, even though there is ample space in its bounding
buffer `req`.

Additionally, given that IFLA_IFNAME also expects a null-terminated
string, callers of rtaddr_add_str{,sz}() could simply use the
rtaddr_add_strsz() variant. (which has been renamed to remove the
trailing `sz`) memset() has been used for this function since it
is unchecked and thus circumvents the issue discussed in the
previous paragraph.

[ Upstream commit 2c28ee720a ]

Jakub reported increased flakiness in bond_macvlan_ipvlan.sh on regular
kernel, while the tests consistently pass on a debug kernel. This suggests
a timing-sensitive issue.

To mitigate this, introduce a short sleep before each xvlan_over_bond
connectivity check. The delay helps ensure neighbor and route cache
have fully converged before verifying connectivity.

The sleep interval is kept minimal since check_connection() is invoked
nearly 100 times during the test.

[ Upstream commit ae24fc8a16 ]

Currently, test_perf_branches_no_hw() relies on the busy loop within
test_perf_branches_common() being slow enough to allow at least one
perf event sample tick to occur before starting to tear down the
backing perf event BPF program. With a relatively small fixed
iteration count of 1,000,000, this is not guaranteed on modern fast
CPUs, resulting in the test run to subsequently fail with the
following:

On a modern CPU (i.e. one with a 3.5 GHz clock rate), executing 1
million increments of a volatile integer can take significantly less
than 1 millisecond. If the spin loop and detachment of the perf event
BPF program elapses before the first 1 ms sampling interval elapses,
the perf event will never end up firing. Fix this by bumping the loop
iteration counter a little within test_perf_branches_common(), along
with ensuring adding another loop termination condition which is
directly influenced by the backing perf event BPF program
executing. Notably, a concious decision was made to not adjust the
sample_freq value as that is just not a reliable way to go about
fixing the problem. It effectively still leaves the race window open.

Gracefully skip the test_perf_branches_hw subtest on platforms that
do not support LBR or require specialized perf event attributes
to enable branch sampling.

For example, AMD's Milan (Zen 3) supports BRS rather than traditional
LBR. This requires specific configurations (attr.type = PERF_TYPE_RAW,
attr.config = RETIRED_TAKEN_BRANCH_INSTRUCTIONS) that differ from the
generic setup used within this test. Notably, it also probably doesn't
hold much value to special case perf event configurations for selected
micro architectures.

Because the tests are expecting a long on-going connection, and they are
not waiting for the end of the transfer, it is fine to make the

verifications, so making it longer doesn't change anything, apart from
avoid it to end before the end of the verifications

commit ee79980f7a upstream.

MPTCP Join "fastclose server" selftest is sometimes failing because the
client output file doesn't have the expected size, e.g. 296B instead of
1024B.

When looking at a packet trace when this happens, the server sent the
expected 1024B in two parts -- 100B, then 924B -- then the MP_FASTCLOSE.
It is then strange to see the client only receiving 296B, which would
mean it only got a part of the second packet. The problem is then not on
the networking side, but rather on the data reception side.

When mptcp_connect is launched with '-f -1', it means the connection
might stop before having sent everything, because a reset has been
received. When this happens, the program was directly stopped. But it is
also possible there are still some data to read, simply because the
previous 'read' step was done with a buffer smaller than the pending
data, see do_rnd_read(). In this case, it is important to read what's
left in the kernel buffers before stopping without error like before.

SIGPIPE is now ignored, not to quit the app before having read
everything.

Matthieu Baerts (NGI0)andGreg Kroah-Hartman 8b644440d1 selftests: mptcp: join: rm: set backup flag
commit aea73bae66 upstream.

Some of these 'remove' tests rarely fail because a subflow has been
reset instead of cleanly removed. This can happen when one extra subflow
which has never carried data is being closed (FIN) on one side, while
the other is sending data for the first time.

To avoid such subflows to be used right at the end, the backup flag has
been added. With that, data will be only carried on the initial subflow.
