commit59be5c3585upstream. If we still own the FPU after initializing fcr31, when we are preempted the dirty value in the FPU will be read out and stored into fcr31, clobbering our setting. This can cause an improper floating-point environment after execve(). For example: zsh% cat measure.c #include <fenv.h> int main() { return fetestexcept(FE_INEXACT); } zsh% cc measure.c -o measure -lm zsh% echo $((1.0/3)) # raising FE_INEXACT 0.33333333333333331 zsh% while ./measure; do ; done (stopped in seconds) Call lose_fpu(0) before setting fcr31 to prevent this. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
