These were added in commit780cc0f370("usb: gadget: add '__ref' for rndis_config_register() and cdc_config_register()") to silence modpost, but they didn't fix the real problem - that was fixed later by removing wrong __init annotations in commitc94e289f19("usb: gadget: remove incorrect __init/__exit annotations"). It really never makes sense for a function to be marked __ref unless it (1) has some conditional that chooses whether to call an __init function (or access __initdata) or not and (2) has a comment explaining why the __ref is there and why it is safe. be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
