commit1120a36bb1upstream. snprintf() returns the number of characters that would have been written excluding the NUL terminator. Output is truncated when the return value is >= the buffer size, not just > the buffer size. When ret == size, the current code takes the non-truncated path, advancing buf by ret and reducing size to 0. This is wrong because the output was actually truncated (the last character was replaced by NUL). Fix by using >= so the truncation path is taken correctly. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
