6ec788ff09 SIL: remove the SILOpenedArchetypesTracker
Instead, put the archetype->instrution map into SIlModule.

SILOpenedArchetypesTracker tried to maintain and reconstruct the mapping locally, e.g. during a use of SILBuilder.
Having a "global" map in SILModule makes the whole logic _much_ simpler.

I'm wondering why we didn't do this in the first place.

This requires that opened archetypes must be unique in a module - which makes sense. This was the case anyway, except for keypath accessors (which I fixed in the previous commit) and in some sil test files.

e77a27e8ed [Concurrency] Introduce runtime detection of data races.
Through various means, it is possible for a synchronous actor-isolated
function to escape to another concurrency domain and be called from
outside the actor. The problem existed previously, but has become far
easier to trigger now that `@escaping` closures and local functions
can be actor-isolated.

Introduce runtime detection of such data races, where a synchronous
actor-isolated function ends up being called from the wrong executor.
Do this by emitting an executor check in actor-isolated synchronous
functions, where we query the executor in thread-local storage and
ensure that it is what we expect. If it isn't, the runtime complains.
The runtime's complaints can be controlled with the environment
variable `SWIFT_UNEXPECTED_EXECUTOR_LOG_LEVEL`:

  0 - disable checking
  1 - warn when a data race is detected
  2 - error and abort when a data race is detected

At an implementation level, this introduces a new concurrency runtime
entry point `_checkExpectedExecutor` that checks the given executor
(on which the function should always have been called) against the
executor on which is called (which is in thread-local storage). There
is a special carve-out here for `@MainActor` code, where we check
against the OS's notion of "main thread" as well, so that `@MainActor`
code can be called via (e.g.) the Dispatch library's
`DispatchQueue.main.async`.

The new SIL instruction `extract_executor` performs the lowering of an
actor down to its executor, which is implicit in the `hop_to_executor`
instruction. Extend the LowerHopToExecutor pass to perform said
lowering.

4f6f8b3377 Rewrite hop_to_executor so that it takes a Builtin.Executor in IRGen
The comment in LowerHopToActor explains the design here.
We want SILGen to emit hops to actors, ignoring executors,
because it's easier to fully optimize in a world where deriving
an executor is a non-trivial operation. But we also want something
prior to IRGen to lower the executor derivation because there are
useful static optimizations we can do, such as doing the derivation
exactly once on a dominance path and strength-reducing the derivation
(e.g. exploiting static knowledge that an actor is a default actor).

There are probably phase-ordering problems with doing this so late,
but hopefully they're restricted to situations like actors that
share an executor. We'll want to optimize that eventually, but
in the meantime, this unblocks the executor work.

79fb05b362 Concurrency: Hop back to the previous executor after actor calls.
Tasks shouldn't normally hog the actor context indefinitely after making a call that's bound to
that actor, since that prevents the actor from potentially taking on other jobs it needs to
be able to address. Set up SILGen so that it saves the current executor (using a new runtime
entry point) and hops back to it after every actor call, not only ones where the caller context
is also actor-bound.

The added executor hopping here also exposed a bug in the runtime implementation while processing
DefaultActor jobs, where if an actor job returned to the processing loop having already yielded
the thread back to a generic executor, we would still attempt to make the actor give up the thread
again, corrupting its state.

7ccc41a7b7 SIL: Preliminary support for 'apply [noasync]' calls
Refactor SILGen's ApplyOptions into an OptionSet, add a
DoesNotAwait flag to go with DoesNotThrow, and sink it
all down into SILInstruction.h.

Then, replace the isNonThrowing() flag in ApplyInst and
BeginApplyInst with getApplyOptions(), and plumb it
through to TryApplyInst as well.

Set the flag when SILGen emits a sync call to a reasync
function.

When set, this disables the SIL verifier check against
calling async functions from sync functions.

Finally, this allows us to add end-to-end tests for
rdar://problem/71098795.

65a6d9a22a MemoryLifetimeVerifier: support verifying enum memory locations.
This is kind of complicated, because an enum can be trivial for one case and not trivial for another case. We need to check at which parts of the function we can prove that the enum does (or could) have a trivial case. In such a branch, it's not required in SIL to destroy the enum location.

Also, document the rules and requirements for enum memory locations in SIL.rst.

462e58d3cb SILLocation: a big refactoring and reducing its size from 3 to 2 words
My goal was to reduce the size of SILLocation. It now contains only of a storage union, which is basically a pointer and a bitfield containing the Kind, StorageKind and flags. By far, most locations are only single pointers to an AST node. For the few cases where more data needs to be stored, this data is allocated separately: with the SILModule's bump pointer allocator.

While working on this, I couldn't resist to do a major refactoring to simplify the code:

* removed unused stuff
* The term "DebugLoc" was used for 3 completely different things:
    - for `struct SILLocation::DebugLoc` -> renamed it to `FilePosition`
    - for `hasDebugLoc()`/`getDebugSourceLoc()` -> renamed it to `hasASTNodeForDebugging()`/`getSourceLocForDebugging()`
    - for `class SILDebugLocation` -> kept it as it is (though, `SILScopedLocation` would be a better name, IMO)
* made SILLocation more "functional", i.e. replaced some setters with corresponding constructors
* replaced the hand-written bitfield `KindData` with C bitfields
* updated and improved comments

269818686a SILGen: Introduce a new debug scope for GuardStmts
A GuardStmt can shadow bindings from outer scopes, so make sure
we actually create a new debug scope here.

Note that we push the scope, but pop it when the next innermost
debug scope ends. To keep track of this I added a new bit of state
to the debug scope stack, indicating that this scope originated
from a GuardStmt.

Ideally, debug info would rely on ASTScope which is the canonical
source of truth for this information. For now, this is a spot fix.

I filed <rdar://problem/72954242> to track implementing the longer
term solution.

60fa93f131 emit hop_to_executor before & sometimes after implicitly-async calls
implicitly-async calls are calls to synchronous
actor-isolated functions. Synchronous functions
cannot perform hop_to_executor, so implicitly
async calls have the convention that the caller
is responsible for switching to the right
executor prior to entering the actor-isolated
callee.

It follows naturally that the caller must then
switch back to the appropriate executor after
the implicitly-async call completed.

Now, if the caller is not isolated to a
_specific_ actor, then we are (currently)
_not_ emitting a hop to go back to the
caller's executor, because that caller's
executor is unspecified (and currently not
accessable in SIL). This behavior may change
in the future; tracked in rdar://71905765

60ec3f1b90 Fix debug description for cases with multiple items (#32282)

```
Emit:
```

sil_scope 5 { loc "main.swift":7:3 parent 4 }
sil_scope 6 { loc "main.swift":9:5 parent 5 }
```
* [IRGenSIL] Diagnose conflicting shadow copies
If we attempt to store a value with the wrong type into a slot reserved
for a shadow copy, diagnose what went wrong.
* [SILGenPattern] Defer debug description of case variables
Create unique nested debug scopes for a switch, each of its case labels,
and each of its case bodies. This looks like:
```
  switch ... { // Enter scope 1.
    case ... : // Enter scope 2, nested within scope 1.
      <body-1> // Enter scope 3, nested within scope 2.

    case ... : // Enter scope 4, nested within scope 1.
      <body-2> // Enter scope 5, nested within scope 4.
  }
```
Use the new scope structure to defer emitting debug descriptions of case
bindings. Specifically, defer the work until we can nest the scope for a
case body under the scope for a pattern match.
This fixes SR-7973, a problem where it was impossible to inspect a case
binding in lldb when stopped at a case with multiple items.
Previously, we would emit the debug descriptions too early (in the
pattern match), leading to duplicate/conflicting descriptions. The only
reason that the ambiguous description was allowed to compile was because
the debug scopes were nested incorrectly.
9168b81a17 Don't require the stdlib to contain the _finalizeUninitializedArray intrinsic function.
Prevent SILGen to crash if the compiler is used with a stdlib which does not have the _finalizeUninitializedArray intrinsic function.
1559fe333f SIL: a new library intrinsic to "finalize" array literals
For COW support in SIL it's required to "finalize" array literals.
_finalizeUninitializedArray is a compiler known stdlib function which is called after all elements of an array literal are stored.
This runtime function marks the array literal as finished.
  %uninitialized_result_tuple = apply %_allocateUninitializedArray(%count)
  %mutable_array = tuple_extract %uninitialized_result_tuple, 0
  %elem_base_address = tuple_extract %uninitialized_result_tuple, 1
  ...
  store %elem_0 to %elem_addr_0
  store %elem_1 to %elem_addr_1
  ...
  %final_array = apply %_finalizeUninitializedArray(%mutable_array)
In this commit _finalizeUninitializedArray is still a no-op because the COW support is not used in the Array implementation yet.
f57a6cfd6d [silgen] Teach CleanupCloner how to handle OwnedValueWritebackCleanups correctly.
Previously we would just forward the cleanup and create a normal "destroy"
cleanup resulting in early deallocation and use after frees along error paths.
As part of this I also had to tweak how DI recognizes self init writebacks to
not use SILLocations. This is approach is more robust (since we aren't relying
on SourceLocs/have verifiers to make sure we don't violate SIL) and also avoids
issues from the write back store not necessarily have the same SILLocation.
c217262a59 [silgen] Rename DelegateInitSelfWritebackCleanup -> OwnedValueWritebackCleanup.
This cleanup is meant to be used with a value that is temporarily taken from a
memory location for a lexical scope. At end of scope, the value is returned back
to the original memory location.
It is used to implement in SILGen "move only loadable values". Note, a "move
only loadable value" is not a "move only type". It is just an abstraction for
working with a single copy of a loadable value as if that single copy was a move
only value.
This is currently only being used in initializer emission since we treat self in
such a context as a "move only value" before we delegate to a
super/convenience/peer initializer since we have to allow for such initializers
to change the underlying class we have stored which in certain use cases require
self to be guaranteed as /never/ being retained. The move only value
representation makes this easy to do/enforce.
My hope is that by changing the name of this cleanup it is more obvious what it
is meant to do and can become (hopefully) generally useful.
147144baa6 SIL: Thread type expansion context through to function convention apis
This became necessary after recent function type changes that keep
substituted generic function types abstract even after substitution to
correctly handle automatic opaque result type substitution.
Instead of performing the opaque result type substitution as part of
substituting the generic args the underlying type will now be reified as
part of looking at the parameter/return types which happens as part of
the function convention apis.
df99de804d Added executable entry-point via @main type.
When a type (class, enum, or struct) is annotated @main, it is required
to provide a function with the following signature:
  static func main() -> ()
That function will be called when the executable the type is defined
within is launched.
43e2d107e1 [SE-0276] Implement multi-pattern catch clauses
Like switch cases, a catch clause may now include a comma-
separated list of patterns. The body will be executed if any
one of those patterns is matched.
This patch replaces `CatchStmt` with `CaseStmt` as the children
of `DoCatchStmt` in the AST. This necessitates a number of changes
throughout the compiler, including:
- Parser & libsyntax support for the new syntax and AST structure
- Typechecking of multi-pattern catches, including those which
  contain bindings.
- SILGen support
- Code completion updates
- Profiler updates
- Name lookup changes
24445dd2e2 [AutoDiff upstream] Add differentiability witness SILGen. (#30545)
Generate SIL differentiability witnesses from `@differentiable` and
`@derivative` declaration attributes.
Add SILGen utilities for:
- Emiting differentiability witnesses.
- Creating derivative function thunks, which are used as entries in
  differentiability witnesses.
When users register a custom derivative function, it is necessary to create a
thunk with the expected derivative type computed from the original function's
type. This is important for consistent typing and consistent differentiability
witness entry mangling.
See `SILGenModule::getOrCreateCustomDerivativeThunk` documentation for details.
Resolves TF-1138.
585c28d0c3 Plumb a result SILType through SILGen's emitTransformedValue.
This fixes an immediate bug with subst-to-orig conversion of
parameter functions that I'm surprised isn't otherwise tested.
More importantly, it preserves valuable information that should
let us handle a much wider variety of variant representations
that aren't necessarily expressed in the AbstractionPattern.
45e941c23a SILGen: Apply substitutions before bridging or thunking.
Even if differently-substituted function types have different value representations,
we can still share reabstraction and bridging thunks among types that are equivalent after
substitution, so handle these by generating thunks in terms of the unsubstituted type and
converting to the needed substitution form at the use site.
