9d52099d5b [cxx-interop] start to emitting a unified header file for a Swift module
This change removes the -emit-cxx-header option, and adds a new -emit-clang-header-path option instead. It's aliased to -emit-objc-header-path for now, but in the future, -emit-objc-header-path will alias to it. After this change Swift can start emitting a single header file that can be expose declarations to C, Objective-C, or C++. For now C++ interface is generated (for all public decls) only when -enable-cxx-interop flag is passed, but that behavior will change once attribute is supported.

c34f7055f8 Detach enable-experimental-async-top-level flag
SE-0343 is approved so it's time to pull the feature out from behind the
experimental feature flag. This patch pulls it out and deprecates
passing the flag to the frontend so that we can pull it out entirely
eventually.

05363cd55a Regex literal runtime plumbing.
- Frontend: Implicitly import `_StringProcessing` when frontend flag `-enable-experimental-string-processing` is set.
- Type checker: Set a regex literal expression's type as `_StringProcessing.Regex<(Substring, DynamicCaptures)>`. `(Substring, DynamicCaptures)` is a temporary `Match` type that will help get us to an end-to-end working system. This will be replaced by actual type inference based a regex's pattern in a follow-up patch (soon).
- SILGen: Lower a regex literal expression to a call to `_StringProcessing.Regex.init(_regexString:)`.
- String processing runtime: Add `Regex`, `DynamicCaptures` (matching actual APIs in apple/swift-experimental-string-processing), and `Regex(_regexString:)`.

Upcoming:
- Build `_MatchingEngine` and `_StringProcessing` modules with sources from apple/swift-experimental-string-processing.
- Replace `DynamicCaptures` with inferred capture types.

ea42e2f334 Enabling copy propagation enables lexical lifetimes.
The effect of passing -enable-copy-propagation is both to enable the
CopyPropagation pass to shorten object lifetimes and also to enable
lexical lifetimes to ensure that object lifetimes aren't shortened while
a variable is still in scope and used.

Add a new flag, -enable-lexical-borrow-scopes=true to override
-enable-copy-propagation's effect (setting it to ::ExperimentalLate) on
SILOptions::LexicalLifetimes that sets it to ::Early even in the face of
-enable-copy-propagation. The old flag -disable-lexical-lifetimes is
renamed to -enable-lexical-borrow-scopes=false but continues to set that
option to ::Off even when -enable-copy-propagation is passed.

2d43a9259e Frontend: teach final module emitting jobs to dump a placeholder file for module semantic info
This additional supplement output should capture semantic info the compiler has
captured while building a Swift module. Similar to the source info file, the content of
the semantic info file should only be consumed by local tooling written in Swift.

77117b03a0 Emit a remark when rebuilding the standard library interface
Although users should usually use a prebuilt standard library, in those rare configurations where one needs to be built, the compiler appears to hang for several minutes, even on a trivial compilation. This commit adds a remark that's emitted when this happens, explaining that the standard library is being rebuilt and it will take a few minutes.

b6cd513534 Frontend: teach the compiler to use a backup directory to find .swiftinterface files to compile
This mechanism allows the compiler to use a backup interface file to build into a binary module when
a corresponding interface file from the SDK is failing for whatever reasons. This mechansim should be entirely opaque
to end users except several diagnostic messages communicating backup interfaces are used.

821345c834 [Frontend] Add a new -index-unit-ouput-path and filelist equivalent to the frontend
These new options mirror -o and -output-filelist and are used instead
of those options to supply the output file path(s) to record in the
index store. This is intended to allow sharing index data across
builds in separate directories that are otherwise equivalent as far
as the index data is concered (e.g. an ASAN build and a non-ASAN build)
by supplying the same -index-unit-output-path for both.

c2f3725f56 Warn about module name shadowing in interfaces
There is a known issue with module interfaces where a type with the same name as a module will disrupt references to types in that module. Fully fixing it will require a new language feature (SR-898) which is not yet available. In the meantime, module interfaces support a workaround flag (“-Xfrontend -module-interface-preserve-types-as-written”) which prints an alternate form that usually works. However, you have to know to add this flag, and it’s not obvious because nothing breaks until a compiler tries to consume the affected module interface (or sometimes even one of its clients).

This commit emits a warning during module interface emission whenever the module interface either imports a type with the same name as the module being built, or declares a type with the same name as a visible module. This lets the user know that the type may cause problems and they might need to implement a workaround.

8d0040fa2b Improve access note error handling
The LLVM rebranch added an “AllowUnknownKeys” setting to llvm::yaml::Input, which lets us rip out a lot of marginal code and encourages a broader rework of access note error diagnosis:

• Access note warnings and errors are now diagnosed as they’re found during YAML parsing
• They now have proper SourceLocs inside the .accessnotes file
• They’re now tested using -verify-additional-file instead of FileCheck
• A lot of gross duct tape is now gone

7cee600bcd [SILGen] Add flag to skip typechecking and SIL gen for function bodies
Adds a new flag "-experimental-skip-all-function-bodies" that skips
typechecking and SIL generation for all function bodies (where
possible).

`didSet` functions are still typechecked and have SIL generated as their
body is checked for the `oldValue` parameter, but are not serialized.
Parsing will generally be skipped as well, but this isn't necessarily
the case since other flags (eg. "-verify-syntax-tree") may force delayed
parsing off.

1224cfa61b update and unify the "please file a bug report" message
The new message is:
"Please submit a bug report (https://swift.org/contributing/#reporting-bugs) and include the crash backtrace."

1. In crash logs we used to print a message which points to the llvm bug tracking page. Now it points to the swift.org bug tracking guidelines.
2. Use the same message in all compiler diagnostics which ask the user to file a bug report.

29e655bac0 DependenciesScanner: implement protocol for batch module dependencies scan
This scanning mode allows swift-driver to query module dependencies in a batch
and in a more granular way. In short term, it could help solve a problem that
clang module dependencies may vary if target triple changes. In a longer term,
we could break a holistic dependencies graph into smaller pieces for better caching
and reusing.

This change doesn't include the implementation of using the specified scanner
arguments to set up Clang dependencies scanner. It will come in later commits.

ec9cd91c1b ExplicitModuleLoader: take a JSON file that specifies details of explicit Swift modules
Instead of taking paths of Swift module files from front-end command line
arguments, we should take a JSON file specifying details of explicit modules.
The advantages is (1) .swiftdoc and .swiftsourceinfo can be associated
with a .swiftmodule file, and (2) module names are explicitly used as
keys in the JSON input so we don't need to eagerly deserialize a .swiftmodule
file to collect the module name.

1b77448d37 Add path remapping with -coverage-prefix-map to coverage data
Previously the path to covered files in the __LLVM_COV / __llvm_covmap
section were absolute. This made remote builds with coverage information
difficult because all machines would have to have the same build root.
This change uses the values for `-coverage-prefix-map` to remap files in
the coverage info to relative paths. These paths work correctly with
llvm-cov when it is run from the same source directory as the
compilation, or from a different directory using the `-path-equivalence`
argument.

This is analogous to this change in clang https://reviews.llvm.org/D81122
