43c7334abc fix two QoI issues:
- <rdar://problem/16306600> QoI: passing a 'let' value as an inout results in an unfriendly diagnostic
 - <rdar://problem/16927246> provide a fixit to change "let" to "var" if needing to mutate a variable

We now refer to an inout argument as such, e.g.:

t.swift:7:9: error: cannot pass 'let' value 'a' as inout argument
  swap(&a, &b)
        ^

we also produce a note with a fixit to rewrite let->var in trivial cases where mutation is
being assed for, e.g.:

t.swift:3:3: note: change 'let' to 'var' to make it mutable
  let a = 42
  ^~~
  var

The note is produced by both Sema and DI.

3d77855b31 Start allowing extensions of protocol types.
Remove the semantic restrictions that prohibited extensions of
protocol types, and start making some systematic changes so that
protocol extensions start to make sense:
  - Replace a lot of occurrences of isa<ProtocolDecl> and
    dyn_cast<ProtocolDecl> on DeclContexts to use the new
    DeclContext::isProtocolOrProtocolExtensionContext(), where we want
    that behavior to apply equally to protocols and protocol extensions.
  - Eliminate ProtocolDecl::getSelf() in favor of
    DeclContext::getProtocolSelf(), which produces the appropriate
    generic type parameter for the 'Self' of a protocol or protocol
    extension. Update all of the callers of ProtocolDecl::getSelf()
    appropriately.
  - Update extension validation to appropriately form generic
    parameter lists for protocol extensions.
  - Methods in protocol extensions always use the witnesscc calling
  convention.

At this point, we can type check and SILGen very basic definitions of
protocol extensions with methods that can call protocol requirements,
generic free functions, and other methods within the same protocol
extension.

Regresses four compiler crashers but improves three compiler
crashers... we'll call that "progress"; the four regressions all hit
the same assertion in the constraint system that will likely be
addressed as protocol extensions starts working.

ce9b0131a1 Change the testsuite to not use typed patterns in nested contexts, which
requires pushing the types out.  The only interesting one is this diff:

-  var (e,f,g:(),h) = MRV()
+  var (e,f,g,h) : (Int, Float, (), Double) = MRV()

... where the type annotation is required to silence the warning about "void type
may be unexpected".  This seems perfectly reasonable to me.

56bf85cc5f fix <rdar://problem/19874152> Swift 1.2 struct memberwise initializer violates new sanctity of previously set let property
If a non-static 'let' field in a struct has an initializer, its implicitly generated
memberwise initializer should not override that.  Handle this by having the memberwise initializer
and default initializer use the initial value of the property instead of an argument to the init.

This would have been a lot easier if sema was synthesizing the ctor bodies instead of SILGen,
but here it is.  The missing case is narrow (let (x,y) = (1,2)) and for now we just disable
implicit synthesization of the incorrect case.

214751e036 Allow variables with observers to still have inferred types.
Previously, adding observing accessors to a variable caused it to require
an explicit type /and/ an initializer. Now you just need one or the other;
the type of the accessors is drawn from the type of the VarDecl, whether
inferred or explicitly written.

3b04d1b013 tests: reorganize tests so that they actually use the target platform
Most tests were using %swift or similar substitutions, which did not
include the target triple and SDK.  The driver was defaulting to the
host OS.  Thus, we could not run the tests when the standard library was
not built for OS X.

7d316d100a Improve diagnostics for static stored properties
Append "did you mean 'static'?" when hitting the unimplemented class
stored properties diagnostic in a class context.

Provide a fix-it for typing "static final" in a class, which is
redundant.

567fd12e80 Don't allow 'class final' spelled stored properties in classed
The previous patch to allow static class stored properties
inadvertently allowed 'class final' spellings for static
stored properties in classes. This patch only allows 'static'
spellings to create the global storage.

87c3d7421f Refine static func and var syntax

- Allow 'static' in protocol property and func requirements, but not 'class'.
- Allow 'static' methods in classes - they are 'class final'.
- Only allow 'class' methods in classes (or extensions of classes)
- Remove now unneeded diagnostics related to finding 'static' in previously banned places.
- Update relevant diagnostics to make the new rules clear.

2912159776 Improve diagnostics for expression typecheck errors
These changes make the following improvements to how we generate diagnostics for expression typecheck failure:
- Customizing a diagnostic for a specific expression kind is as easy as adding a new method to the FailureDiagnosis class,
  and does not require intimate knowledge of the constraint solver’s inner workings.
    - As part of this patch, I’ve introduced specialized diagnostics for call, binop, unop, subscript, assignment and inout
      expressions, but we can go pretty far with this.
    - This also opens up the possibility to customize diagnostics not just for the expression kind, but for the specific types
      involved as well.
- For the purpose of presenting accurate type info, partially-specialized subexpressions are individually re-typechecked
  free of any contextual types. This allows us to:
    - Properly surface subexpression errors.
    - Almost completely avoid any type variables in our diagnostics. In cases where they could not be eliminated, we now
      substitute in "_".
    - More accurately indicate the sources of errors.
- We do a much better job of diagnosing disjunction failures. (So no more nonsensical ‘UInt8’ error messages.)
- We now present reasonable error messages for overload resolution failures, informing the user of partially-matching
  parameter lists when possible.

At the very least, these changes address the following bugs:

8c303ef7a6 Representational changes towards get-and-mutableAddress
properties.

The main design change here is that, rather than having
purportedly orthogonal storage kinds and has-addressor
bits, I've merged them into an exhaustive enum of the
possibilities.  I've also split the observing storage kind
into stored-observing and inherited-observing cases, which
is possible to do in the parser because the latter are
always marked 'override' and the former aren't.  This
should lead to much better consideration for inheriting
observers, which were otherwise very easy to forget about.
It also gives us much better recovery when override checking
fails before we can identify the overridden declaration;
previously, we would end up spuriously considering the
override to be a stored property despite the user's
clearly expressed intent.

96aec03e68 Verify that an archetype is not referenced outside of its scope.
The changes to the decl/ext/generic test strip out testing of
extensions of nested generics, a feature whose syntax will change and
is fairly broken already.

afca235299 Allow a local function to capture a local function that itself does not have captures <rdar://problem/18053114>.
When we locked down on local functions capturing other local functions
(<rdar://problem/17862878>), we broke existing (working) code that
only captured local functions that themselves had no captures, which
avoided the SILGen problems that led to <rdar://problem/17862878>.

The very-late checking here is necessary because we compute captures
in a weird order that is not postorder traversal.

This moves a crude parser check for stored properties in enums & extensions into Sema, and changes it
to be correct (rejecting the case that caused the crash in the radar) as well as more descriptive.

e5fc17843e Allow overrides to leave out the ownership qualifier of the decl they override.
If they do provide it, however, it must match. So the following combinations
are valid:

  weak var -> override weak var
  weak var -> override var

but these are not:

  var -> override weak var
  weak var -> override unowned var

To be fully correct, we should be cloning the attribute down and adjusting
the type of the overriding property, but I'd rather not touch that right now.

ac332429d9 Give extensions generic parameters and signatures within the AST.
This adds generic parameters and generic signatures to extension
declarations. The actual generic parameters just mirror what is
available on the extended type; however, it is filled in via extension
validation, which is handled lazily.

This is a NFC step toward decoupling the archetypes of extensions from
the archetypes of the extended types <rdar://problem/16974298>.

cd799f6797 Sema: Coerce structural lvalues when binding to non-lvalue type variables.
Modify TypeBase::getRValueType to structurally convert lvalues embedded in tuple and paren types. Inside the constraint solver, coerce types to rvalues based on the structural 'isLValueType' test rather than shallow 'is<LValueType>' checking. Fixes <rdar://problem/17507421>, but exposes an issue with call argument matching and lvalues <rdar://problem/17786730>.

ea8b7a471a Extend the attributes machinery to enforce the "OnFoo" flags in Attr.def at sema time, and extend
them to cover all declaration types.

This ensures that we reject attributes on declkinds where they don't make sense.  I went so far
as to make the QoI decent when an attribute can only be applied to a single kind of declaration
to make sure the error message says "@IBAction is only valid on 'func' declarations" as well.

This resolves <rdar://problem/17681151> 'dynamic' accepted by the compiler where it shouldn't be

6d1095f44e Protocol names end in "Type," "ible," or "able"
Mechanically add "Type" to the end of any protocol names that don't end
in "Type," "ible," or "able."  Also, drop "Type" from the end of any
associated type names, except for those of the *LiteralConvertible
protocols.

There are obvious improvements to make in some of these names, which can
be handled with separate commits.

Fixes <rdar://problem/17165920> Protocols `Integer` etc should get
uglier names.

fc392cc942 Sema: Strip out inout conversion constraint systems.
JoeP helped tweak things to ensure that pointer conversions are still
considered, but we no longer need the disjunction on InOutExprs to accommodate
user-defined inout conversions.

This causes some regressions in error reporting:

cf55f7edd5 fix:
<rdar://problem/16264989> property not mutable in closure inside of its willSet
and:
<rdar://problem/16826319> willSet immutability behavior is incorrect

by changing how we handle immutability of an observing property within its willSet.
Instead of trying to model it as an rvalue, just model it as an lvalue (which it is)
and diagnose the problem with a warning in MiscDiagnostics.

faf1c45d14 Shuffle the files in the testsuite a bit to try to reflect language structure.
There's a lot more work to do here, but start to categorize tests
along the lines of what a specification might look like, with
directories (chapters) for basic concepts, declarations, expressions,
statements, etc.
