[python] Replace deprecated assertEquals with assertEqual in build graph test
2024-05-27 23:53:45 -07:00
Eric Miotto
ce0e620d1a [CMake] allow custom options when building the compiler with debug info
Currently those are hardcoded to `-g`, but in some Apple internal
configurations we would like to change them.

There are other part of the build system that hardcode `-g`
(e.g. in `SwiftCompilerSources` and `AddSwiftStdlib.cmake`),
but we are not interested in those at the moment -- we will address those
in the future if need be.

c31f1f5245 [python] Replace deprecated assertEquals with assertEqual in build graph test
`unitest.assertEquals` is deprecated in Python 3.2 and finally removed in
Python 3.12 [1]. Due to this, this test files in recent Linux distros,
like Ubuntu 24.04 or Fedora 38+. This patch replaces the deprecated
function with `assertEqual`.

922e3daaea Remove build infrastructure for globally enabling noncopyable types
Now that the compilation model of noncopyable types is enabled everywhere,
and one can enable the feature for specific modules, we no longer need a
separate build-script/CMake option to enable it globally. Remove it all.

f3a85b118f Add build-script option and lit config for nonescapable_types
With this build-script has a flag --enable-experimental-nonescpable-types=1
to enable this feature in stdlib.

Also we can now add // REQUIRES: nonescapable_types to tests which run only when
the compiler is built with this feature turned on.

b92fe5f2e9 [build-script] fix NoncopyableGenerics option
This patch introduces `--enable-experimental-noncopyable-generics` for
the build script. It replaces
`--swift-stdlib-experimental-noncopyable-generics`

The old build option only enables the feature when building the
stdlib, but if we've built the stdlib with NoncopyableGenerics, the
compiler should be hardwired to have that feature enabled, too.

This patch also introduces the `noncopyable_generics` lit parameter, so
that tests assuming the system was built with the feature can live
in-tree and be tested, if they specify `REQUIRES: noncopyable_generics`.

f11617392e build: enable control over the C++ interop modules
Treat the C++ interop modules similar to the Concurrency and
StringProcessing modules, enabled through a top-level global flag. The
flag now enables disabling the C++ interop modules when the standard
library is built.

f417630054 Add option to reduce build times when using ThinLTO and ld64 (#41058)
Internal configurations targeting Darwin employ ThinLTO to
improve compiler performance, however using it on all executable
causes build time to increase with no matching benefit.

To reduce build times in such configurations, we allow some
ancillary targets to opt out of LLVM IR optimizations when linking
ThinLTO with ld64 (e.g. tools used for bootstrapping or debugging the
Swift compiler) -- this behaviour is opt in through a new flag
`--swift-tools-ld64-lto-codegen-only-for-supporting-targets`.

65bffd7ad7 Add _MatchingEngine and _StringProcessing modules.
These modules are part of the experimental declarative string processing feature. If accepted to the Standard Library, _StringProcessing will be available via implicit import just like _Concurrency, though _MatchingEngine will still be hidden as an implementation detail.

`_MatchingEngine` will contain the general-purpose pattern matching engine ISA, bytecode, and executor. `_StringProcessing` will contain regular expression and pattern matching APIs whose implementation depends on the matching engine..

Also consolidates frontend flag `-enable-experimental-regex` as `-enable-experimental-string-processing`.

6f4ef7cee2 [build-script] Begin tracking ar in build-script toolchains and start passing -DCMAKE_AR to cmake.
I am currently working on being able to build cmake build-script projects as
always being cross compiled by using toolchain files (1). CMake expects in means
that I need to be able to specify CMAKE_AR in said toolchain.

(1) We still build for the host machine (of course), but instead of building it
normally with cmake, we build it as if we are cross compiling meaning we are
cross compiling for the host on the host. This makes it so that the host build
is no longer different from cross compilation builds making Swift's cross
compilation build more robust since it will be tested and less mysterious.
