622ea5e2f6 wind down most of CSDiag's uses of getUserFriendlyTypeName to pass the Type
directly into the diagnostics subsystem.  This ensures a more consistent 
treatment of type printing (e.g. catches a case where a diagnostic didn't 
single quote the type) and gives these diagnostics access to "aka".

63f99a486c Move CallExpr diagnostics over to the same overload candidate diagnosis
facilities used by operators etc.  This required a bunch of changes to make
the diagnostics changes strictly an improvement:

  - Teach the new path about calls to TypeExprs.
  - Teach evaluateCloseness some simple things about varargs.
  - Make the generic diagnosis logic produce a better error when there is 
    exactly one match.

Overall, the resultant diagnostics are a step forward: we now produce candidate
set notes more uniformly, and the messages about some existing ones are 
more specific.  This is just another stepping stone towards progress though.

f25e14ecc9 fix <rdar://problem/14096697> QoI: Diagnostics for trying to return values from void functions
by propagating the 'is return expr' bit more carefully in sequence folding, and by
adding another path for handling the return diagnostics better.

This probably improves a number of cases where we complain about "this argument list 
is invalid" when the call is in the context of a return.

7059871abf Convert some 'var' bindings to 'let' when they are not mutated, some
var/let bindings to _ when they are never used, and use some values that

331b570329 Remove reverse subtype constraint between Objective-C classes when type
checking checked cast via bridging. It prevented bridging upcasts using
'as!' from typechecking; we should emit an 'as!'->'as' warning instead.

Also, use ExplicitConversion constraint instead of Conversion when
determining whether a checked cast can be carried out unconditionally.
This matches the constraint used after applying the 'as!'->'as' fixit.

(Also, fix the error that was responsible for breaking
the expr/cast/bridged.swift test.)

5248ededee Rework the AST representation of CollectionExprs to maintain
a list of their elements, instead of abusing TupleExpr/ParenExpr
to hold them.

This is a more correct representation of what is going on in the
code and produces slightly better diagnostics in obscure cases.

However, the real reason to fix this is that the ParenExpr's that
were being formed were not being installed into the "semantic"
view of the collection expr, not getting type checked correctly,
and led to nonsensical ParenExprs.  These non-sensical ParenExprs
blocked turning on AST verification of other ones.

With this fixed, we can finally add AST verification that 
IdentityExpr's have sensible types.

793b3326af Implement the new rules for argument label defaults.
The rule changes are as follows:
  * All functions (introduced with the 'func' keyword) have argument
  labels for arguments beyond the first, by default. Methods are no
  longer special in this regard.
  * The presence of a default argument no longer implies an argument
  label.

The actual changes to the parser and printer are fairly simple; the
rest of the noise is updating the standard library, overlays, tests,
etc.

With the standard library, this change is intended to be API neutral:
I've added/removed #'s and _'s as appropriate to keep the user
interface the same. If we want to separately consider using argument
labels for more free functions now that the defaults in the language
have shifted, we can tackle that separately.

4b939eef89 Allow implicit conversion constraint to bridge String to NSString even
when it is the favored constraint of a disjunction.

This allows 'ns ?? "str" as String as String' to typecheck where ns is
an NSString. This does not regress the relevant test for 17962491.

9910c75c67 Don't offer incorrect fixit for NSString? -> String? conversion.
Update the locator when matching optional types in parallel fashion.
This causes the simplifyLocator() call to fail to simplify the locator
completely, and avoids the bogus diagnostic.

19af8a124c Re-apply "If a function conversion fails, suggest wrapping in a closure."
This re-applies r24987, reverted in r24990, with a fix for a spuriously-
introduced error: don't use a favored constraint in a disjunction to avoid
applying a fix. (Why not? Because favoring bubbles up, i.e. the
/disjunction/ becomes favored even if the particular branch is eventually
rejected.) This doesn't seem to affect the outcome, though: the other
branch of the disjunction doesn't seem to be tried anyway.

9637137d45 Provide forced-downcasting Fix-Its where we used to have implicit bridging conversions.
For example, we used to have an implicit conversion from NSString to
String, but it was removed. Provide a Fix-It that suggests "as!

ab86515fb2 <rdar://problem/19671476> Offer as -> as! changes in all nested contexts
When generating constraints for an 'as' expression, consider the
possibility that the code is supposed to be 'as!' instead of 'as'. Emit
the appropriate fixit if that branch of the disjunction is chosen by the
constraint solver.

This is a more comprehensive fix for <rdar://problem/19499340> than the
one in r24815.

0562411bb2 Improve support for diagnosing errors that result from contextual or conversion type mismatches. Doing so allows us to improve our diagnostics for a few important cases:
- Situations where the type of a return statement's result expression doesn't line up with the function's type annotation.
- Situations where the type of an initializer expression doesn't line up with its declaration's type pattern.
- Situations where we assume a conversion to a built-in protocol must take place, such as in if-statement conditionals.

(Addresses rdar://problem/19224776, rdar://problem/19422107, rdar://problem/19422156, rdar://problem/19547806 and lots of other dupes.)

3b04d1b013 tests: reorganize tests so that they actually use the target platform
Most tests were using %swift or similar substitutions, which did not
include the target triple and SDK.  The driver was defaulting to the
host OS.  Thus, we could not run the tests when the standard library was
not built for OS X.

03a6190a1f <rdar://problem/19031957> Change failable casts from "as" to "as!"
Previously the "as" keyword could either represent coercion or or forced
downcasting. This change separates the two notions. "as" now only means
type conversion, while the new "as!" operator is used to perform forced
downcasting. If a program uses "as" where "as!" is called for, we emit a
diagnostic and fixit.

Internally, this change removes the UnresolvedCheckedCastExpr class, in
favor of directly instantiating CoerceExpr when parsing the "as"
operator, and ForcedCheckedCastExpr when parsing the "as!" operator.

2912159776 Improve diagnostics for expression typecheck errors
These changes make the following improvements to how we generate diagnostics for expression typecheck failure:
- Customizing a diagnostic for a specific expression kind is as easy as adding a new method to the FailureDiagnosis class,
  and does not require intimate knowledge of the constraint solver’s inner workings.
    - As part of this patch, I’ve introduced specialized diagnostics for call, binop, unop, subscript, assignment and inout
      expressions, but we can go pretty far with this.
    - This also opens up the possibility to customize diagnostics not just for the expression kind, but for the specific types
      involved as well.
- For the purpose of presenting accurate type info, partially-specialized subexpressions are individually re-typechecked
  free of any contextual types. This allows us to:
    - Properly surface subexpression errors.
    - Almost completely avoid any type variables in our diagnostics. In cases where they could not be eliminated, we now
      substitute in "_".
    - More accurately indicate the sources of errors.
- We do a much better job of diagnosing disjunction failures. (So no more nonsensical ‘UInt8’ error messages.)
- We now present reasonable error messages for overload resolution failures, informing the user of partially-matching
  parameter lists when possible.

At the very least, these changes address the following bugs:

d436b5d341 Constraint solver: look through type variables after unwrapping optionals.
When simplifying a checked-cast constraint, look through type
variables after unwrapping optionals or looking through
metatypes. Otherwise, we won't find obvious solutions. Fixes

9f4ddfe2e1 Don't allow an implicit conversion from NSNumber to one of its bridged value types.
Eliminate the implicit conversion from NSNumber to one of its bridged
value types (Int, Float, Double, Bool, etc.). One can use "as" to
perform the conversion instead. This eliminates a class of
accepts-dubious that involve lossy conversions from NSNumber to Int.

Our eventual arc is to eliminate all of these conversions. This is a
small, high-value step along that path rdar://problem/18269449.

916e9a7eb5 Fix computation of “favored” constraints for binary expressions <rdar://problem/17943223>.
The determination of “favored” constraints for binary expressions was comparing the second argument to the first parameter to decide if the constraint is favored. Coupled with implicit bridging conversions through NSNumber, this meant that “1.0/10” would become Int when Foundation was imported, and hilarity ensued.

Fix the heuristic for favored constraints, tidy up this code a bit, and add ==(NSString, NSString) to cope with the ambiguity this creates.

c593d49b08 Rework the _ObjectiveCBridgeable to use inout parameters rather than returns.
The _forceBridgeFromObjectiveC and _conditionallyBridgeFromObjectiveC
requirements of the _ObjectiveCBridgeable protocol previously returned
Self and Self?, respectively, where 'Self' is the value type that is
bridged. This use of returns is fairly hostile to the idea of calling
the witnesses for these requirements from the C++ part of the runtime,
leading to "interesting" tricks with OpaqueExistentialContainer that
made it hard to use these witnesses within the dynamic casting
infrastructure.

Replace the returns with inout Self? parameters, which are far easier
to deal with in the C++ part of the runtime. Despite the churn because
we're changing the _ObjectiveCBridgeable protocol, this is NFC.

0896a12197 Further improve type checker diagnostics through a variety of means.
Start capitalizing on some of the new diagnostic machinery in a few different ways:
- When mining constraints for type information, utilize constraints "favored" by the overload resolution process.
- When printing type variables, if the variable was created by opening a literal expression, utilize the literal
  default type or conformance if possible.
- Utilize syntactic information when crafting diagnostics:
	- If the constraint miner can produce a better diagnostic than the recorded failure, diagnose via constraints.
	- Factor in the expression kind when choosing which types to include in a diagnostic message.
- Start customizing diagnostics based on the amount of type data available.

What does all this mean?
- Fewer type variables leaking into diagnostic messages.
- Far better diagnostics for overload resolution failures. Specifically, we now print proper argument type data
  for failed function calls.
- No more "'Foo' is not convertible to 'Foo'" error messages
- A greater emphasis on type data means less dependence on the ordering of failed constraints. This means fewer
  inscrutable diagnostics complaining about 'UInt8' when all the constituent expressions are of type Float.

So we still have a ways to go, but these changes should greatly improve the number of head-scratchers served up
by the type checker.

9a13a7148b [stdlib] Consolidate bridging protocols
Squash _[Conditionally]BridgedToObjectiveC into one protocol.  This
change results in simpler bridging code with fewer dynamic protocol
conformance checks, and solves the nasty naming/semantics problem that
resulted from having _ConditionallyBridgedToObjectiveC refining
_BridgedToObjectiveC.

Also, rename things so they're more symmetrical and less confusing.
